Our 18-hole championship course takes advantage of the local topography and weather conditions to create a pure golf experience, featuring strategically placed bunkers, undulating greens, and stunning views of the Sierra Nevada mountains. The walker-friendly layout demands accuracy and strategy, making it an enjoyable test for both seasoned players and casual golfers year-round (weather permitting).

Inside Sierra Sage: From History to Greens

The front nine of the Stead Golf Course was built in 1960 by the U.S. Air Force for the use of military personal assigned to the Stead Air Force Base. With the phasing out of Stead Air Force Base in the middle 1960s Washoe County assumed operation and maintenance of the course, Washoe County purchased the course in 1966 and renamed it Sierra Sage. Mazzaferri took over management and operations of the course in 2009 reviving the golf course with a commitment to maintain an affordable quality golf facility with outstanding customer service that produces a memorable golf experience.
